Call for Proposal Submission for ESD Ambassadors
The Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Program of the Center for Gender Studies, Bayero University Kano, is calling for ESD Ambassadors to submit proposals for consideration for the award of a grant to execute projects that can impact communities. You are invited to submit a proposal either individually or as a group, clearly articulating the project objective, vision, target group/beneficiaries, scope, and proposed budget. The budget must be realistic and must not exceed N500,000.
Why Apply?
This is your chance to receive a grant of up to ₦500,000 to implement a transformative project addressing a pressing sustainability issue in your community. In addition to funding, winners will receive exclusive mentorship and training to enhance their skills in project execution and management.
Eligibility Criteria
- You must be a Sustainability Ambassador under the Center for Gender Studies ESD Program.
- Your proposal must focus on a specific sustainability challenge targeting any one (or more) of the SDGs.
- Your project must show the potential to create measurable and meaningful change in the community.
- A detailed financial plan for the project must accompany the proposal.
- Submission Deadline: Proposals must be submitted no later than 15th December 2024.
How to Submit
All proposals must be submitted electronically to the email dir.cgs@buk.edu.ng and copy to olofin.reg@buk.edu.ng no later than 11:59 PM, 15th December 2024. Submissions MUST bear the title "ESD Project Proposal Submission".
Evaluation and Selection
Proposals will be reviewed by an expert panel based on:
- Relevance: How well the project addresses a specific SDG.
- Innovation: Creativity and originality in approach.
- Feasibility: Practicality of implementation.
- Impact: Potential to create lasting community change.
- Budget Clarity: A realistic and well-documented financial template.

Essay Writing Competition for Sustainability Ambassadors
The Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Program of the Center for Gender Studies, Bayero University Kano, is also calling for ESD Ambassadors to submit essays for consideration in the upcoming ESD Conference Impact Award. The Impact Award will be given to the best two essay submissions in the male and female categories.
Essay Topic: "My ESD Journey"
Your essay should explore:
- The personal impact of the Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) program in your life.
- How you have applied the knowledge and skills gained to create meaningful change and impact in the lives of others.
- The profile and visibility you have created through the ESD engagements (please include any links, videos, or social media posts related to your submission at the end of the essay).
Eligibility
- The competition is open exclusively to certified ESD Ambassadors.
- Submission Deadline: Essays must be submitted no later than 12th December 2024.
Submission Guidelines
- Essays must be original and written in English.
- Word Count: Between 800–1,200 words.
- Format: Typed, double-spaced, and submitted as a PDF or Word document.
- Include your full name, contact information, and ESD training year/cohort.
- Email submissions to dir.cgs@buk.edu.ng and copy to olofin.reg@buk.edu.ng no later than 11:59 PM, with the subject line: "My ESD Journey – Essay Submission".
Recognition and Award
The best two essays (male and female categories) will be recognized for their creativity, authenticity, and depth. The winners will receive a special award and be celebrated as a voice of inspiration among the ESD community.
