The centre for infectious diseases research (CIDR) is one of the centres established by Bayero University Kano in 2015. The current management team was appointed in January 2016 (Prof. Zubairu Iliyasu, Director: Prof. Abdulsalam Yayo Manu, Deputy Director I: Dr. Haruna Muhammad Awaisu, Deputy Director II). It is located within the College of Health Science premises at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.

Centre for Biotechnology Research (CBR)

The present University administration responded to the call for the introduction of the Biotechnology Center in 2012. The initial process began under the former DVC (Academics) Prof. M. Y. Bello but was later continued and completed by a committee under Prof. Hafiz Abubakar MFR, then HOD, Department of Biochemistry. The Center for Biotechnology Research (CBR-BUK) was then formally established with Professor Hafiz Abubakar MFR as Director, after recommendation of the senate and approval of the University Council. Centre for Research in Nigerian Languages and Folklore (crnl&f)

When the Centre was established during the 1969/70 academic session, it was named Centre for the Study of Nigerian Languages, so as to continue the work of the defunct “Hausa Language Board” established by the then Northern Region of Nigeria. The original aim for the establishment of the Centre was to promote the use of Hausa, Fulfulde and Kanuri languages, literatures and cultures. It assumed its name during the 1970/71 session since Fulfulde, Kanuri, Jukun, Bade, etc, were added to the list of languages.
